Cookies and storage

Kritiku keeps tracking to a minimum. We use one small cookie for interface preference and browser storage for your sign-in session. There are no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file sent by a website and stored in your browser. Cookies are sent back to the site on each request, which is why they are often used for things like login sessions or tracking. Cookies are different from localStorage and sessionStorage, which are also stored in your browser but stay on your device and are not automatically sent to our servers with every page load.

Cookies we use

Kritiku sets only one cookie. It is not essential for using the site, but it improves the layout experience for signed-in users.

No analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking service. We also do not use advertising or marketing cookies.

Browser storage we use

Some features need to remember information on your device without sending it on every request. We use localStorage and sessionStorage for this. These are not cookies.

  • Sign-in session Supabase stores your session token in localStorage so you stay signed in between visits. You can sign out at any time to remove it.
  • OAuth redirect sessionStorage remembers the page you wanted to visit after signing in with Google or Apple. It is removed automatically after use.
  • Recommendation refresh — sessionStorage keeps a short-lived flag so your daily recommendations update at the right time.
  • Staff tools localStorage remembers moderation mode, view-as preferences, and staff console position for users with moderator or admin roles.
  • Profile nudge localStorage records when a profile reminder has been dismissed so it does not keep appearing.
  • Cookie banner localStorage remembers that you have already read the cookie notice so the banner stays hidden.

How to manage or delete cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Keep in mind that removing the Supabase session token from localStorage will sign you out. To clear localStorage and sessionStorage, use the same browser settings or dev tools panel, or sign out of your account.
